My educational journey has been nothing short of diverse and exhilarating. I spent my early childhood years in Germany before later relocating to Borneo. It was here, with the tropical rainforest on my doorstep, that my interest and curiosity into the wonders of the natural world began. Science always held a special place in my heart, though my eagerness for learning extended far beyond that. School was not just a necessity but a genuine source of enjoyment for me.

Fast forward a decade, and I found myself completing my A-levels and graduating from the University of Manchester with a degree in Biological Sciences.

​

However, despite securing a  job within an amazing team and company, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was neglecting my true passion for biology. It was then that I embarked on a journey into online tutoring during my spare time. What began with one student soon blossomed into five, then ten, until I found myself managing a burgeoning clientele alongside my full-time job. Yet, amidst the chaos, I discovered a love for tutoring, a calling that I knew I had to pursue. And so, after some time juggling part-time tutoring and then working primarily with agencies, I decided to strike out on my own.

And so, 'Biology by Katie' was formulated. I started creating unique, hand-drawn diagrams for use in my lessons, initially. After receiving such positive feedback surrounding my diagram style, and multiple requests to create a revision resource or online content with them, I decided to do just that. I now post regular diagrams and short videos online to help students grasp the difficult concepts within the biology specifications.

Throughout my journey so far, I've had the privilege of guiding numerous students to surpass their academic expectations, fostering both confidence and a profound appreciation for biology. My approachable, friendly and relatable demeanour has earned me great working relationships with all clients, who often commend me for creating a relaxed and supportive learning environment. Each session is meticulously tailored to cater to individual learning styles and aspirations, ensuring optimal progress.
